Service Description

This will be an interactive and hands on manual physical therapy course for Physical Therapists (PT), Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA). The course is applicable to most type of settings in Physical Therapy. It is designed to advance the knowledge, clinical assessment and treatment of the cervical spine. Thorough discussions will be focused on mechanisms and application of manual physical therapy techniques, clinical decision making and problem solving of actual patient symptoms. Patient response model will be utilized for appropriate progression and modification of manual therapy techniques. Patient case presentations and live demonstrations will be available to assist in the participant’s understanding of manual therapy prescription. 75% Hands on Physical Therapy Techniques and Assessment. This is the 1st of two sessions discussing Manual Physical Therapy Prescription of the Cervical Spine. Contact Hours: 8 hours Target Participants: Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant. Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: 1. Apply functional anatomy, arthrokinematics and biomechanics of the cervical spine as it relates to daily clinical setting. 2. Demonstrate and properly utilize cervical spine mobilization, grading, techniques in different patient positions and with movement. 3. Describe and utilize the concepts of progression of manual therapy forces, treatment alternatives and progression. 4. Describe and utilize patient response method with manual therapy.
