Manual Physical Therapy Prescription
Service Description
This will be an interactive and hands on manual therapy course for Physical Therapists (PT), Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA), Student PT and Student PTA. The course is applicable to most types of setting in Physical Therapy. It is designed to advance the knowledge, clinical assessment and treatment of the lumbar spine. The course will build on the clinical interaction and collaboration with course participants. A thorough discussions will be focused on clinical decision making, problem solving, and application of manual therapy techniques. Patient response model will be utilized for appropriate progression and modification of manual therapy technique as dictated by patient symptoms. Patient cases, in addition to live demonstrations will be used to assist in the participant’s understanding in manual therapy prescription. This is the 1st of two sessions discussing Clinical Concepts of the Lumbar Spine. Contact Hours: 8 hours Target Participants: Physical Therapist, Student Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Student Physical Therapist Assistant. Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: Apply functional anatomy, arthrokinematics and biomechanics of the lumbar spine as it relates to daily clinical setting. Demonstrate and properly utilize lumbar spine mobilization, grading, technique in different patient positions and with movement. Describe and utilize the concepts of progression of manual therapy forces, treatment alternatives and progression. Describe and utilize patient response method with manual therapy.
